However, I am getting together the engines of the other 15+ trains I saw that day to post soon.

I was also impressed with the aux train, and did a colour drawing of the whole consist that stretches about 6 feet. Maybe I can find a way to scan and post it too.
EricErichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11822288099043790296noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-372955869775302424.post-50466301410293548932010-02-15T00:26:46.610-05:002010-02-15T00:26:46.610-05:00Now that is an Auxiliary train with appeal! You usually have that information in the derailment posts.Zartok-35https://www.blogger.com/profile/00449976580118722879noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-372955869775302424.post-19693795115359047992010-02-14T19:21:37.516-05:002010-02-14T19:21:37.516-05:00You may be absolutely right, Robert. Although in ...You may be absolutely right, Robert. Although in this case, the cars stayed upright. I will be posting another local derailment which involved auto racks. Personally, I wouldn't want to buy some vehicles that I see bouncing along on flat cars for hundreds of miles (suspension/springs already broken in!)

Like you, I'm interested in the Pacific Indian tribes, their history and artwork. As the Haida are known for their totem poles, I expected more imagery of that in the opening ceremonies. They were prominently featured at Expo 86.

Thanks for your comments,
EricErichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11822288099043790296noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-372955869775302424.post-77022251919423272042010-02-14T10:12:28.561-05:002010-02-14T10:12:28.561-05:00First, the Olympic Opening. Being from Vancouver, ...First, the Olympic Opening. Being from Vancouver, I appreciated the attention (long overdue) to the First Nations, particularly the bands in the Vancouver area. And k.d. Lang's voice is amazing, perhaps one of the best! And HOW DID those Orcas get in the building?

Interesting wreck story. Anyone who has spent time around a rail operation KNOWS they are methodical. I recently witnessed an operation completed by BNSF that back in the day would have taken 1/4 the time!

However, I raise a "discussion" point about the cars continuing to the dealership. I had a friend who was Video Training Producer (my mirror at Freightliner) for Espee. Over lunch one day he was relating a video assignment he had just completed out in the desert. It seem several auto racks went astray, screwing things up for a few days. The insurance company told SP to bury the cars on site. They were not taking the chance of any repercussions from selling cars that had been involved. This despite the fact that Ron saw no scratches on most of the motor vehicles. Any discussion?Robert in Port Townsendhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13807813545873570119noreply@blogger.com
