It's well known far beyond Kingston. The one thing I always wondered about was why Snow Road got its name as a station stop. It seems like an odd choice. I always laughed when driving on the Highway 7 when I passed the sign for Snow Road. I'm sure the reason is quite simple, but still a strange choice.Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07917230984518214781noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-372955869775302424.post-24002789912957853212024-03-16T23:35:56.001-04:002024-03-16T23:35:56.001-04:00Very interesting topic. There was a campaign some years ago for carmen to make sure all boxcar doors were closed, especially double-door, because of wind drag and fuel consumption! Remember boxcars? Given their profile, you'd think they would have significantly less wind drag. I know it's a small consideration, given the environmental impact of heavy diesel engines, but I'd think it might be something to consider, even for appearance's sake. Possibly there's a way to take an existing model and engine and change the outside packaging. It would be like the trucks on the highway with the panels meant to lessen wind drag. Let's bring the cowls back!Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07917230984518214781noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-372955869775302424.post-33291840013122205282024-03-01T22:51:19.982-05:002024-03-01T22:51:19.982-05:00J.P. thanks for your entry.

The railways don't seem interested in maintaining a niche fleet for only occasional use!
