By the 2000s, there were plenty of these cars still in service, but few still had the door painted green.Chris vanderHeidehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10201660898672671254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-372955869775302424.post-33455853881329225722016-05-13T14:38:55.174-04:002016-05-13T14:38:55.174-04:00Aha! Green doors on 40- and 50-foot boxcars for lumber service, yellow for newsprint; red and blue doors on mechanical reefers for produce and meat.

Not as well-known as CP's multimark scheme where the entire car was painted. CN was more conservative and kept the original car colours, merely painting the doors to signify specific services.

Thanks for your question,
EricErichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11822288099043790296noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-372955869775302424.post-58717332193507018962016-05-12T12:01:28.949-04:002016-05-12T12:01:28.949-04:00Did you ever come across a reason why CN would pai...Did you ever come across a reason why CN would paint these doors green? This evidence of them serving in Portage gives me extra incentive to track down a Kaslo Shops kit. Would be nice if they re-stocked them now that Kaslo seems to be replenishing many of their "long lost" items!Tylerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11277724015328862338noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-372955869775302424.post-41891389955647104172016-05-06T17:57:40.449-04:002016-05-06T17:57:40.449-04:00Kaslo Shops!
