If you haven't seen my other posts on the Millhaven Spur, you can type 'Millhaven' into the search box at top left of Trackside Treasure. These other posts show the curve at the top of the spur as you've noted. I didn't snap any photos of the boxcars, but I certainly remember seeing them often. There was hope for the plant during the PET expansion, but unfortunately it's now closed. I may be posting more on the spur in future, so stay tuned.

EricErichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11822288099043790296noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-372955869775302424.post-18739376179367959052012-02-22T15:04:15.058-05:002012-02-22T15:04:15.058-05:00Hi Eric,
Back in the 'old' days,1956-1966 ...Hi Eric,
Back in the 'old' days,1956-1966 Millhaven spur had dozens of tank cars for Anhydrous Ammonia made in the plant there. The buildings left on site are the Maintenance building and the compressor building. (Sorry no pictures) The main polyester plant as supplied with raw material by regular box car and the same tank cars as you show. Glycol in, methanol out. The spur as it approaches the yard and the CN main line has a sharp curve. The rail on this curve had to be replaced a number of times because of the heavy wear on the inside of the outer rail. The one time I saw it, the rail head was completely worn away on the inside of the rail.
The spur to the tank farm is relatively new compared with the rest of the spur.
Lil Red TruckRon Barrettnoreply@blogger.com
